2022 Parks and Open Space System Plan Update
This project has now concluded.
Bellevue Parks and Community Services is updating the long-range Parks and Open Space System Plan. Thank you to everyone who submitted input. While the primary outreach period has concluded for this plan update, staff always welcome input on the parks and open space system. Documents will be posted on the Parks and Open Space System Plan website as the plan update process continues.
Many of the Bellevue parks and trails we use and treasure today started as ideas in the parks plan! The parks plan provides guidance on all aspects of the parks, trails, and open space system throughout Bellevue, including areas for recreation and play, undeveloped spaces for exploring the natural world, trails that connect communities, and more. The parks plan provides direction specifically on the acquisition, development, and management of parks and open space.

We want to hear your ideas for the parks and open space system. For instance:
- Are there types of parks or features within parks that you'd like to see more of (pea patches, dog parks, skate parks, etc.)?
- How could we make existing parks more welcoming and inclusive for people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds?
- Are there places for recreation or connecting with nature that you would like to get to by foot or on bike, but it is currently difficult to do so?
To participate you'll need to provide a user name and email. You may also want to register on EngagingBellevue, so you can see your participation across projects. Either way, your feedback will be considered as part of the planning process.

Viewpoint Park Improvements
This project includes trailhead improvements (no parking), trail resurfacing, viewpoint improvements, new trail side benches and an informational kiosk. Trailhead improvements would include exotic vegetation removal, native plant restorations, the replacement of existing guard rail with wood Corten guard rail that would complement the trailhead, and the installation of a 2-sided informational kiosk with trail map providing an overview of the trail route and a new park entry sign. Trail enhancements would include trail resurfacing and trailside bench installations for rest stops. Viewpoint Park upgrades would include new post and rail fencing, new gravel surface and two new benches BT-10: Viewpoint Park Improvements $80,000 Viewpoint Park, 134th Ave NE and NE 24th St

More places for large groups to gather for pickleball - outdoors and year round!
Existing pickleball courts often have long waits and new people keep coming, so the problem will only grow. New courts need to be clumped together in groups of at least 8 so that large numbers of players can drop in and play with many different groups. This makes it more fun, mixes skill levels, and builds community. Given that we play outdoors year round, lights and rain cover are crucial. Thank you!

Lighted, covered, dedicated pickleball courts, clustered in groups of 8 or more.
Lighted so we can play in the winter evening. Covered so we can play in the rain. Clustered and dedicated to respect and encourage the drop-in pickleball culture which fosters community building.

Add lighting to small parks, to enhance safety
Many small parks (e.g. Evergreen Park) could benefit from lighting, to allow park users to see better in the shorter winter days/summer nights.
